Hi,
I have an ibook g4 12" os 10.4.6. Have checked the connect automatically when needed in the network preferences so that (or so i thought that) when opening safari, mail etc it would automatically connect to the internet.........but it doesn't. Well, mail doesn't at all and safari will but only if you connect manually first then open safari>quit safari>disconnect>then open safari again.

Have I missed something very obvious???

Cheers

Ritch

So long as you have set the preferred (default) Network for your Location in Network Prefs, then it should automatically connect each time you turn it on.
You might want to try checking the proxy settings too though!

Good luck :)

Well you can set your Proxies to Automatic and Manual....

If set to Manual you may need to specify the Web Proxy (HTTP) and Secure Web Proxy (HTTPS) - There are also a whole load more to set if needed, such as FTP Proxy.

This isn't always necessary, it depends on your network :)
