Or, should that be Scamguard?

If that link works (7 lines when I pasted it) it's posted as a warning against this hoax, and for general amusement. I ran across it on the Yahoo! home page.

Nope. I can link directly to Save Smarter Online .org, but thought better of it. For the curious, searching for the story might be better than an untrustworthy link.

I am still not sure why people are going with these random shady companies. You have Malwarebytes, Kaspersky, Avira, Avast. Why go with these random companies, that might or might not steal/compromise/scam/*Insert malicious intents*.

Sorry...but it would seem that you're randomly throwing everything into "one basket"...which may be a result of not being familiar with the products. Malwarebytes is actually a very useful and safe app...and shouldn't be grouped with the rest.:)

And the three that you did mention above: Kaspersky, Avira, and Avast, we strongly recommend against using any of them. All three are resource intensive and have been known to cause problems when used with macOS. And since there are no viruses in the wild that can infect a Mac, why use them at all? Malwarebytes is a tried and true non intrusive malware scanner which works well.

Note... Malware is sometimes lumped in the same category with viruses. They are different although you could call everything that interferes malware.

This post can be interpreted in two ways, but I see that both have been covered. ;D
