I have a carplay equipped car but only one USB connection. I tried a hub to display the carplay info on the cars screen to no avail. When I plugged the iPhone directly into the USB port on the car it works fine. I need a splitter or something because I also need to power a satellite radio. Any ideas of what I should use?

Have you got a decent car radio service place you could goto to ask their advice. They may even have what you need and actually work properly. :Smirk:

I don't think CarPlay will work multiple devices, single devices at a time.

Does your car have bluetooth? I am asking as I have carplay. While I don't need more than one USB as my radio has built in satellite radio, I know my iPhone will connect using it's bluetooth connection and I can make calls and play music from it without using the USB connection.

In my vehicle carplay usually works fine but it can be picky. Sometimes when I connect my iPhone it will show up as connected and act like it but I can't access the menu for it on my car's touch screen. Also I bet the usb port is only able to handle one device at a time.

Ah... all you guys and gals with newer cars that have all those new fangled gadgets included. In my opinion, just more distractions to distract those drivers who already are distracted enough.

Not directed at you Lisa. I think you're savvy enough about the importance of keeping your eyes on the road. ??

I don't see how CarPlay can use multiple devices at the same time, it's not a computer?

chscag - I always pay attention to the road when driving. I set my iPhone in a handsfree holder and use a USB cable to connect it to the car. If a text comes in the carplay feature will show an incoming text. I can use the voice recognition feature to listen to and answer text but I only deal with a text if it is important and I can pull over. I rarely take calls even though I can answer and hang up using buttons on my steering wheel. I do think using a phone while driving is very distracting and causes wrecks. Carplay hands free is much better than driving down the road talking or texting with one hand and the other on the wheel which I see all the time.

Bob - I don't think you can use more than one. The idea is to be able to listen to music or an audiobook and if a text or call comes in it pauses the music/book so you can answer the call or text. when you are done it starts up the audio again. There are other features - including a shopping app which I have found no reason to try but no it is not a computer.
