G'day and welcome to the forums.

Of course. If this is a genuine Mac Pro graphics card, the driver are installed in the operating system. If you have hacked the machine to change the firmware to 5.1 and upgraded the card to a generic PC card this is what may happen. This, and solutions, are discussed much more in MacRumours rather than here. https://forums.macrumors.com/thread...-and-how-to-safely-do-os-updates.1981453/Here is one:-

Check out this link. http://www.macvidcards.com/drivers.html

This is where I get my nVidia drivers for my GTX 1080 card. I have a Mac Pro 4,1 firmware flashed to make it a 5,1. Up until recently I used a PC GTX 780 card which would run on the standard Apple drivers. When I purchased the GTX 1080 I got it from the same place the link will take you to. The card has been flashed to allow for EFI boot and will show the apple boot screen.

Also you may want to install CUDA drivers and that is also explained in the link.
