When I open mac terminal all that is displayed is -b-3.2# I can't seem to find this when googling or on any forums. Hoping someone here can help me figure out 1) what it is 2) how to proceed with it. Thanks in advance, hopefully!

Doesn't a Terminal window header usually start with the username???

Or is Terminal the actual username being used??

@pm-r, I just opened Terminal on my mini, and the window name is the same "user name- bash - 80x24". In the window, I get; Last login, user name, etc. etc. etc., nothing like OP.

@anotherj, Did you look in Terminal > Preferences? Check the settings, I don't know if there is a way to restore defaults. B

There are some settings in the Terminal Preferences that may change what is displayed on opening the app. I have never changed the default settings so here they are. Worth checking yours are the same.

While the naming is off..that doesn't matter..you are correctly sitting at the Bash terminal prompt. What exactly do you want to do with at the terminal?

I just mentioned about the username being used in case it made any difference. And I guess not as you say.
