Hi there,

I'm not a computer genius and have tried advice on a few forums/YouTube to no success...

My computer is on the Sierra update.

Essentially, Netflix (Australian version) will not work on my laptop, yet it works on my iPhone. It won't load on Safari or Chrome.
This is what comes up mostly:

This site can’t be reached
www.netflix.com unexpectedly closed the connection.
Try:
Checking the connection
Checking the proxy and the firewall
Running Network Diagnostics
ERR_CONNECTION_CLOSED

Occasionally get the RESET one, but it's mostly the CONNECTION_CLOSED.

I've done things like all of these steps (http://www.mac-forums.com/os-x-operating-system/336814-site-reached.html)

It may have something to do with my boyfriends friend using a VPN on my laptop over a year or so ago to get the US Netflix - but since, it's been cleared off this computer, and for quite a while.

I'm unsure what to do so if anyone has any tips, they'd be greatly appreciated!

Thanks :)

Welcome to our forums.

The site (www.netflix.com) is a US site for US subscribers. If you're posting from Australia, shouldn't you be trying to use the Australian site? Or are you already doing so? Your statement above about the proxy and firewall leads me to believe you're trying to access the US site?

According to Netflix you should be trying to access this site instead: https://www.netflix.com/au/

Let us know.

Is Netflix the only site that is giving you issues or are there other sites? Have you ensured to clear all caches when trying to access the site? Also, have you tried MalwareBytes and OnyX to clear things out for you?

Don't really know if it's required anymore but do you have Silverlight installed?
