iPhone 4S to iPhone 6S Woes

Hi:
I am having a problem in trying to do a backup of my 4S to my computer in prep for my 6S arrival. I have tried using a Data Transfer Program (Syncios) and iTunes, which both say they can't read the 4S, and to do a restore or reset of the 4S. For example it will not transfer the contacts. The 4S has the latest version of IOS for that 4S phone (9.3.5) and the latest iTunes version.

This leads me to believe that since I am using iCloud, that it will work, but not 100% sure. Has anyone ran into this problem before, and will iCloud be sufficient to restore all accounts, contacts etc to the new phone.

Do you have all your contacts listed in your "contacts.app" on your Mac? If you do and you have chosen iCloud to sync your contacts, they (the contacts) will transfer to your iPhone 6S. Just make sure you use the same Apple ID and password for your Mac, the iPhone 4S and the new iPhone 6S. Sign into iCloud with your Apple ID and password.

Good thinking. Yes they are all in the Contacts App on my Mac. So at least I know that will work. I also checked photo's and they are also on the Mac. Thanks for pointing this out to me.
