About visting potentially infected pages

Is it possible to be infected by just clicking on link and opening web page?

I don't have any real time scanners and use only Malwarebytes.



1) Could I be infected just by browsing something and not agreeing to any installation?

2) I heard there is no Mac malware that would install itself when just visiting websites. Is that true?

1. No.

2. No. Malware will be attracted ~ Geinio or however it is spelt is one.

Keep using Malwarebytes for Mac every week or two.

AdBlock Plus and Ghostery are recommended here often.

Some of the answers makes one wonder why Apple keeps installing x-protect update files to most all users, some of which is apparently to provide a heads-up warning prior to one about to visit certain sites.
