imovie burn project to DVDi

Your Mac's Specs
iMac (Retina 5K, 27-inch,2017 Processor 3.4 GHz Intel Core i5. Memory 8GB 2400 MHz DDR4.
Could anyone tell me how to burn an iMovie project to DVD in a generic form that will play on any DVD player. I am running macOS Sierra version 10.12.3. I have tried to download the BURN app which seems to be recommended but it is not recognised by Apple. Free app preferred if possible

Burn will run fine on your Mac. The problem you're running into is "Gatekeeper" which stops any app that is not from a recognized developer or the Mac app store. Just right click on Burn and select open after you get the stop message from Apple.
