Trouble Deleting Locked Items....

I have some Excel files that i'm trying to delete from my trash can and it won't let me. Everytime i say "empty trash" it says: The operation cannot be completed because the item "xxxxxxxxxxxx" is locked.

Is there anyway I can get rid of these files?

Drag the files out of the trash, get info on them and uncheck the "Locked" check box. Then move to the trash an empty again.

Thank you, I knew it was something simple just couldn't see it. Worked perfectly.

Or you can press and hold the option key, then empty the trash.
