I want to place the libaacs dynamic library to the ~/lib directory and was told and I quote, "Mac OS X: put that file in ~/lib directory (create it, if it does not exist)" but where is the ~/lib directory. Should I put or create it in the root folder? I tried several methods to try and find it but to no avail.

This is the user system library and is hidden by default. Use the "Go" menu on an empty desktop, scroll down to Go To A Folder and enter ~/Library then press go. Bear in mind Apple in their wisdom have hidden many such system folders to protect users from accidentally damaging them or the operating system itself so make sure you have a backup before you go fiddling with stuff like this.

As an alternative you can open the GO menu and hit the alt key which will reveal the Library folder - be careful what you do.

Thanks for the quick replies. But my macbook pro already shows the Library folder as unhidden in the root directory without having to use the "Go to folder" menu option. And does lib stand for library or should I create a separate lib folder in the Library folder?

Just follow the instructions given and you will be taken to a different Library folder.

Each user has a hidden "library" folder, along with the System Library folder in the root level.

Here is the path to the ~/lib folder:

Macintosh HD/usr/lib

Disregard the other replies as they are referring to a different folder which is called "library" not "lib". ;D
