MBP display problem, no idea why

So recently, my MacBook Pro (Retina, Mid 2012) has been displaying this weird problem. After some video editing for around say 30mins, it happens. Everything is still running in the background, except I can't see what's happening. I have to press the sleep button to get my display back again, but it will happen again after another 5mins.

Anyone knows what's going on? For now, I plug my MBP into an external monitor, and everything works fine.

Really looks like a hardware problem. I would suggest booking a Genius Bar appointment at an Apple Retail Store or taking it to your local Apple Authorised Service Provider. If it requires a repair, you will really need to politely argue your case and how careful you have been with the machine to get the repair done free of charge because your Mac is far outside warranty cover, and there are no guarantees they will agree to do it.

Let us know how it goes.

You may be lucky and covered by this, depending on exactly when you bought the machine. The programme covers affected MacBook Pro models until December 31, 2016 or four years from its original date of sale, whichever provides longer coverage for you.
