Hey guys, I have the Quadro FX 4500 in my G5 Quad. I have a 1440p display I use for my gaming PC but wanted to play around with logic so I hooked up the power mac to this monitor and the picture was all pixelated. It was set to my usual 2560x1440. I put it back down to 1080p where my old monitor that I last used it was at and now it looks ok again. But I want 1440p. Is this graphics card just too old?

Read the specs on that card for yourself. In order to get that resolution with the Quadro FX 4500 you probably need a dual link DVI cable connector. Here are the specs for the card sold by Amazon.

Online it says it is able to handle 2560x1600 or something similar so I'm a little perplexed. Oh well I guess 1080p it is. I don't want to mess with other adapters for the once in a blue moon I power this thing up. Wondering when the cooling system is going to leak lol.

That is for a 30" Apple Cinema Display. You have not told us what display you are using.

Either way, he's going to need a dual link DVI adapter cable in order to gain full resolution. Those adapters are expensive but one needs to shop around because prices vary.

Did you try a dual-link DVI cable? I have a 1440p monitor that I'm using with the stock 6600 LT card it only works at 30Hz but works at the full 1440p resolution using a dual-link cable.

They can be found online pretty cheaply, look for DVI-D Dual-Link cable. Also you can use DVI-D Dual-Link to HDMI which is what I am using. (If your monitor has HDMI, that is)

I am using an ASUS VX24L I think. Using a DVI to HDMI adapter. On my gaming PC I just HDMI out from the graphics card. Not sure if you can dual link DVI with an HDMI only monitor.
