since the last OS upgrade, mac outlook is stopping all of my outgoing email messages. I must enter my password each time to send an email. How can I fix this issue?
Thanks.

A warm welcome to Mac-Forums.

If you go into Mail > Preferences > Accounts > Highlight the account in question from the list on the left > Click on Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP) from the list on the right > Edit SMTP Server List > Select Advanced > and on your right will be a list, the last two being Username and finally Password. Enter your password (or if necessary re-enter your password even if it's already shown).

That should do it.

Ian,
Thanks for the input. Tried it. It did not solve the issue.

Hi Charlie,

When you made the changes, did you remember to Save them? It's not automatic. The changes are only saved if, after you've put in your password, you hit OK, then go to the list on the left and click on any other account you've got or the blank space beneath this account if it is the only one, and a dialogue box opens saying "Do You Want To Save The Changes"?. Without that box, your changes are not saved.

My error, I just assumed that, and should have emphasised the point.

Ian,
I repeated the process and then clicked below my account (only have one). "Do you want to save changes?" did not appear as a prompt.

If what Ian suggested did not work for you, try going to your ISP web log in, sign in with your account, choose to change your password, and enter a new password and save it. Then go back to your Mail app, enter your account, and enter the new password. Save the changes.

Are you using Microsoft Outlook app for mail? If so, what version? '08, '11, or something else?

I have Outlook for mac 2011 version 14.7.0. My inbox email is not downloading and it continuously asks for my password. I have tried to go to "TOOLS" and "ACCOUNTS" but every time I click on accounts Outlook crashes. This has been going on for several months. Does anyone have a solution to this? Running Sierra 10.12.1

I am using Mac Outlook 2011. My service provider is ATT/Yahoo. I spent an hour on the phone with them yesterday. They were unable to resolve the issue.
