• The Mac-Forums Community Guidelines (linked at the top of every forum) are very clear, we respect US law and court precedence when it comes to legality of activity.

    Therefore to clarify:
    • You may not discuss breaking DVD or BluRay encryption, copying, or "ripping" commercial, copy-protected DVDs.
    • This includes DVDs or BluRays you own. Even if you own the DVD or BluRay, it is still technically illegal under the DMCA to break the encryption. While some may argue otherwise, until the law is rewritten or the US Supreme Court strikes it down, we will adhere to the current intent of the law.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying unprotected movies or homemade DVDs.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying tools in the context that they are used for legal purposes as outlined in this post.

When I play a video from my Photos app on my iMac. it periodically freezes and the audio continues for a couple of seconds then stops. In about 5 seconds the frozen video starts up again and fast forward's for 3 seconds and then everything plays normall for another 30-40 seconds when the abnormal behavior repeats itself. This also happens with Quick Time screen recordings. Not sure if this is related but many videos at websites turn blank white with a gray progress bar on the bottom with no audio, when I press the play arrow, I am running Sierra 10.12.1. Thanks Forummers

More information regarding your iMac is needed?

What model and year?
Processor?
Ram?
Drive space available?

Also, are the files on the internal drive or are they on an external drive?

How large are the video files? Your iMac should be able to handle the videos. Have you tried running Disk Utility > First Aid on the drive?
