Hello, I have a late 2009 mac mini and a late 2013 27" iMac. Would you know if it is possible to connect the Mac mini in order to use the Optical Drive? If so which cables would I need. I'm not very tech minded and would really appreciate any help. Thank you.

You do not need a cable to use the optical drive as long as both Macs are connected to the same network. See this Apple Support Article, https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT203973.

Do yourself a favor and buy an inexpensive external USB optical drive to attach to your iMac when you need it. It's a lot less trouble and much faster than the method described above.
