problem with Terminal/Unix....

I've been using the terminal for ever.. now all of a sudden when I open it I get no prompt, nothing... the screen is completely blank....

how do I solve this, please.... would appreciate suggestions....

I would also get Malwarebytes antimalware app in case something you've downloaded has done this to Terminal to prevent you using it.

Use a plain text editor (I use TextWrangler) to look at ~/.bash_profile and ~/.profile to see if there's something unexplainable there. Paste it back here if there is.

oh my gosh.. that was it!! I had indeed closed the Terminal while a "sudo" process was running...

just like they recommend in thread you posted, I quit the process thru the Activity Monitor and it solved the problem....
