Hey everyone, I'm looking to but the above, however I won't have the funds until November. Question is when are Apple releasing their hardware refresh? Will it be then or will I be best to wait?

Supposed to be sometimes this year, maybe November. If that is the case you can expect them to be available in the UK, like here Down Under, maybe mid-January.

Apple closely guards this information for the obvious reason, so when it happens, it will happen.

All the latest rumors are leading to a late October/early Nov release of new hardware in the US.

Ok, so if I wait till mid November, dependant on when I receive the funds from my family, I should be good :)

You can't lose by waiting. Most rumours point to updates in the MBP line but there could be some tweaks for iMac too.

The only thing I'd worry about is the exchange rate. Analysts were predicting parity with the USD by year end. That could make a new Mac VERY expensive.

Don't know what the FOREX feeling is now.

Kevin,
Are you saying that the price in Canada (reference the increase in CanD) will be more or are you referring to the UK price?

I'm in the same boat in Canada.

I was talking about the price in the UK. The £ IS taking a hammering. I checked earlier. It's $1.275.

Of course, we are not much better off in Canada right now but the CAD is likely to improve slightly.

That's going to change somewhat. Oil prices are on their way up again which means the Canadian Dollar should benefit.

That's my thought.

Think I'll hold off until November, last thing I want to do is buy one, then they release a refresh, and it leaves me thinking I should have waited

The 27" does. It has 4 slots and two are used. So just get the lowball one and buy more when it gets cheaper.

Is it likely that they will release a refresh, or could I go ahead now? It's just I don't want to be disappointed if they do

Many folks were expecting an iMac refresh a couple weeks ago (but did not happen). Rumors now seem to be "before the end of 2016"...to "Well into 2017". Many times as rumors go...not much help.

iMac's are due for an update...but when who know's. You could be in for a short or long wait. We won't know until Apple tells us.

We are in a better position now to figure out where Apple might be going.

As I suspected, the prices increased in the U.K.

Also, Apple seem intent on moving to USB-C to the exclusion of everything else, so you may find the next models will not be compatible with existing peripherals.

The optical digital port has gone from the new MBP so it is unlikely to survive in other new models.

On the bright side, new Macs will likely be equipped with W1 (AirPods) and the price of adapters was reduced at least until the end of the year.

Of course not. You're probably Mac-Forums member 137,873 to be in this position!;) No one wants to buy a brand new Apple computer...then 2 weeks later Apple releases new models. Which usually will be very close to the same price. The best time to purchase a new computer is right after (or very near) a new model release. Then you know that your new computer will stay the "latest & greatest" for as long as possible.

It's been 395 days since the last new iMac model release. The average time is 317 days. New iMac models are overdue (based on the statistics). But when exactly new iMac models will be released...only Apple knows.

Now anticipated to be mid-March 2017.
