Somehow got some kind of malware that won't let safari work. Some message that says apple security update. Whenever I close the tab a new one opens up with the same message. Can't do anything -- no erase history, no preferences, nothing. I can force quit, but when I open it up again all those tabs are still there. Can anyone help?

Can I reinstall safari, and if so how?

Disconnect from the internet, force close Safari, clear history and cookies and you should be good to go.

Another thing to try, first, quit Safari, then, hold shift when opening Safari.

And turn off your modem/router for a few minutes to add to this.
