I have a mid 2009 MBP and I'm wondering what's the highest os I can run without problems? It's stil running snow leopard and I think I can't get iTunes to the latest version. So I am unable to update my iPad 2 to iOS 9. It's still on 7. Lol I'm a loser. I have the ability to put el captain and lion on for free. Lemme know. This computer has been sitting in a drawer for 4 years. Yikes

The OS on your computer should not be the issue. You should be able to upgrade your iPad 2 to iOS 9 directly on the iPad (no computer necessary).

El Capitan is probably your best option. It's a free download...and unless you downloaded earlier free OS versions (Mavericks or Yosemite)...El Capitan is your only choice (Mavericks & Yosemite are no longer available on Apple servers unless you downloaded them previously). Lion is pretty old & probably not worth it. Hopefully this 2009 MBP has at least 4gig of RAM.

Nice to see you checking in!:)

I do not think you will be able to get iOS 9 now that iOS 10 has been released.

So I have the iPad jail role since 7.0.4 so I can't do over the air updates. I haven't downloaded any os atm. I'll go with el captain thanks. Will it run good? Yes I have 4 gb ram. iOS 10 doesn't support the iPad 2. So 9 is what I have to do. Same with my daughters iPod.

If it doesn't you can always go back to Snow Leopard!;)

But honestly...what other choice do you have with this computer if you want to run a modern Mac OS??:)
