Hello everyone

I wsa wondering if its possible in gimp to put the text at an angel if so how do i do it?

Write whatever the text you want to display.

Select Rotate button from the GIMP tools.

Drag the text to which ever angle you want it to rotate.

I tried the above method on Linux. But it should be the same in OSX.

another noobish Q, but i wanted to use the paint brush - how do i get one solid colour instead of fading colours and stuff

When you select paint brush, there is a checkbox displayed at the bottom called "Fade Out". You should uncheck it. If that's what you need ;)
