It's a Mac Pro 1,1. For multiple reasons.

Case wise it sure is but what is up with the Core2Duo Nick? Maybe it's a misprint.

Edit: I see what is up. The seller does not know how to write! :D Grin

In the description at the top it says dual core. In the item specifics it says core 2 duo (which is a generic that ebay sticks in I do believe) and down in the seller's description it says Xeon dual core. Your guess as to which is correct??? I just scrolled down fast to see the Xeon description as I have found the item specifics section to not always correctly reflect the item.

Also the graphics card listed is one that was offered in the MP 1,1.

Yes…the title is not clearly written. And below in the "Item Specifics" area it says "Core 2 Duo". I believe this is an eBay problem…since the Mac Pro 1,1 CPU setup is pretty unusual (2x dual core)…and eBay really doesn't have a category for it.

Lisa, you are right. That listing is confusing but it's a Mac Pro. The seller also has 100% positive feedback so I doubt he would be lying.

When I first saw the listing I was still waking up and it was confusing! :D Grin

Things that give it away as a Mac Pro:

1. Two optical drive doors (could be a stock photo).
2. No 3.0ghz Powermac G5's.
3. FX4500 only came with a Mac Pro (as Lisa mentioned above).

Go stand in the corner you lot and put the red hats on!!!!

Being a 3GHz uniy, it could well be a Mac Pro 2.1! Whilst the 1.1 did have a 3GHz model, few in fact ever reached the market. And with the FX4500 GPU makes it likely. Wonder what CPUs are installed. Clovertown 5300's?

Actually the FX4500 was also an option for the G5 Pci-e just a little fact. This is indeed a MacPro 1,1 since the 2,1 Had Quadcore 3ghz chips (X5365) and this one has Dualcore chips (Xeon 5160) Its a pretty cool system but in this configuration it is pretty limited with support, Anyways good luck with it!

Can you please point us to a link that indicates this? My trusted sources do not mention the FX 4500 being a video card option (when originally purchased from Apple) for any Powermac G5 models.

Thanks,

- Nick

Thre are some on Amazon Nick, choice of brand new or used. I had one in my 2.3GHz Dual Core:-

I understand Harry. But I don't think that Apple offered an FX 4500 originally as an upgrade for Powermac G5's (at time of purchase).

Good to know Harry. If MacTracker says it's so…good to go. I was checking Everymac.com…and there's no mention of FX 4500 and Powermac G5's.
