"All tyranny needs to gain a foothold is for people of good conscience to remain silent" -Thomas Jefferson

“We still find the greedy hand of government thrusting itself into every corner and crevice of industry and grasping at the spoil of the multitude. Invention is continually exercised to furnish new pretenses for revenue and taxation. It watches prosperity as its prey and permits none to escape without a tribute.”― Thomas Paine

“There is no difference between Communism and Socialism, except in the same ultimate end: Communism proposes to enslave men by force, Socialism by the vote. It is merely the difference between murder and suicide”- Ayn Rand

“Government has three primary functions. It should provide for military defense of the nation. It should enforce contracts between individuals. It should protect citizens from crimes against themselves or their property. When government-- in pursuit of good intentions tries to rearrange the economy, legislate morality, or help special interests, the cost come in inefficiency, lack of motivation, and loss of freedom. Government should be a referee, not an active player.”

Wouldn't it be great if we had a political party that actually represented those ideals, not just in rhetoric, but in action?

Well, of course the phrase "legislate morality" is a code for something specific. Literally speaking, how do you establish laws without doing just that?

Utopias all have the same problem. They don't work and neither will this lot.

Better to strive for utopia, making gains throughout the quest, then continually plummeting toward the sewer.

Well Harry, it looks like we have a choice between a pathological liar or a congenital liar. Which one would you choose? Keep that spare room open in Nambucca Heads; you may have company visiting you after this November. :p O:)

Time will tell if Donald will put us on the right track...right now it's all verbal diarrhea.

Please oh please take notice of Chris, Charlie. Canada is much closer and just think what you can save on removal costs. Could not see you guys handling the old copper phone lines 6Mbps so called ADSL+2!

Most Canadian provinces have been offering any Americans welcome hospitality for some time now, but you'll have to accept and act according to Canadian ways to be welcomed, and BTW, who's this "Bryan" person to which you refer, or are you just a wee bit behind the Canaj'n times eh???

My God!!! You guys have copper lines??? We've still got a huge population still serviced by outside galvanized lines — and some aren't even that lucky.

And how is that? Is it the same way we expect all those Canadian "Snow Birds" to act who flock to Hawaii or Florida every Winter? Get real Patrick, and put your bias away. ;)

Huh…??? Where did you get any of this "bias" bit from…??? But I think you're just reading something extra into what was said somewhere or somehow that certainly wasn't intended …

Edit:
Just in case it's needed…:

Easy remedy for that... don't say it and then no one will misunderstand what it was you intended to say.

You know him as Vansmith. I'm just kidding, btw... I have faith that cooler heads will prevail and the orange guy will be sent back to his bankrupt businesses post-haste.

Canada is too cold for my blood. My plan is to secede and build a big wall around my property. . . ;)
