My iBook screen is REALLLY dark as compared to my dads. the white on the mac-forums isn't white.. its more like a dimly lit room white.. is this normal? because i haven't really noticed until now.

I think you just got a deffective display. The screen on the G4 ibooks is very good. My 14" iBook G4 can go very bright, I usually run it on 50% brightness. You should probably take it back to the store.

Well, if you have narrowed down the problem somewhat, I would call Apple Care.

If your dad has anything but an ibook that your comparing it to; then its probably just the way the screen is.

I had an ibook 14 in 1.33, which i thought had the worst screen brightness, not too mention its pathetic 1024 x768 display. Besides the operating system, i think the ibook (especially the 14 in) is a lackluster product. I have since bought a used powerbook aluminum with applecare that is faster and much better quality for less than i paid for the ibook.

Lets hope for the best when the intel ibooks/macbooks come out.
