Apple Watch not attached to approved charging device??

I had the most interesting thing happen with my Apple Watch. I recently had hand surgery. I had to have a tiny joint removed in my wrist - due to arthritis, and they rebuilt it by rerouting a piece of my own tenden from my arm.

So evidently as part of the healing, I could feel little electrical like pulses running up from the area where they cut my tendon in my arm up to where they remade the joint. This went on for about a month. It wasn't painful just mild little pulses. I figured my body was rewiring.

Now here is the interesting part. I would get messages on my watch telling me the charging device I had it "attached" to was not an authorized charging device! This happened multiple times and always after I felt the little pulses.

Talk about sensitive! All I can assume is the pulses were electrical in nature and the watch is just that sensitive.

Once the little pulses quit occurring I quit getting the notifications from the watch. Now wouldn't it be cool for Apple to come up with a way to make the watch able to charge itself off the current generated by our body? Just an idea ... ;D

Just reading about your surgery sent chills through me. But it is really wonderful what modern surgery can do. Now if my surgeon could remove about 30 years from this old body......

If I took thirty years off .... well let's just say knowing what I know now .... I would be dangerous!

And the hand surgery was so worth it. I could not sleep because of the shooting pains that radiated up my arm. I also had carpal tunnel surgery at the same time but it was minor compared to the joint restructure. Now I can sleep and I am slowly getting strength back in my grip in that hand. So worth it.

Interesting to read.

Focusing on the watch - I'm actually surprised that this would happen. The Apple Watch charges via induction, so no electricity actually passes from the charger to the watch directly. Which would mean that it shouldn't recognize electrical impulses as "being connected" to a charger. Now, if you tell us that there's a piece of metal that's been implanted, and you're acting like an electromagnet, well...

I found the whole thing strange too. But when the little pulses were occurring the notices popped up. When my body got done with it's rewiring and the pulsing stopped, the warnings stopped. (I know this is nerves regenerating as the numbness is now gone.) I have no other explanation. I was so glad it was still charging on it's charger and not having any other issues I just didn't worry about it.

if we all know Apple the way we do, I would of thought they would of have had some sort of Patent on something like this already .......

I'm sure many have been trying for some time now but they just haven't been able to come up with anything close to the million volts that has been the minimum requirements…

I was expecting a boring thread about the watch not charging using third-party gear. Boy was I surprised. Didn't know it was going to be about Lisa's race to be the first official Mac-Forums cyborg.

Well it does depend on which continent you are on at the time. Just got done watching Crocodile Dundee II - so I know what a sheila is! Sad where I get my knowledge from..
