Mac Mini Mid 2011 Issue

I have a Mac Mini mid 2011 and for some reason despite having almost a full hard drive full of space(256 gb SSD) my computer will crash after ~1Gb of downloading. Any ideas as to whats wrong? Could I have to replace the hard drive?

Confusing terminology…"almost a full hard drive full of space". Either the drive is full (full of files & apps)…or it has lots of free space. Please confirm how much free space this SSD has.
