So I would like to give my brother some baby music to play for my new born niece. Lullaby music I came across for our daughter a decade ago. So every time I put in a thumb drive in my Mac it transfers all pictures, documents, some music etc. I don't know why but it does. Can't figure it out. Any ideas on how to fix this. Cheers.

Welcome to the Mac-Forums.

Make sure nothing else is open or running on your Mac when you insert the flash drive. In other words, close all programs and make sure no startup programs are active. Things just don't automatically transfer themselves to an inserted flash drive unless there is something else going on at the time to cause it. (Check your top menu and dock.)

Does it do this as soon as you insert the flash drive or is it doing this during the transfer, i.e it's transferring more than you want it to? Are you drag and dropping the files in finder or using another application?

It's doing it right as soon as I put in a new thumb drive.

OK - flash thumb drives are cheap - have you tried another one? Dave :)

You should have the Finder Progress Bar appear showing the transfer progress. Click on the little x at the right hand end to stop it. Then use Disk Utility to reformat the drive and see if that solves the problem.
