Looking for a WYSIWYG web authoring program.

Hey everyone,

Back when I was on PC, I created all of my webpages using Frontpage 2003. I now use a Mac with OSX and I'm in need of a good web authoring program that's as close to FP as possible. I'm not a big HTML guru and I don't want to have to totally re-learn a complex piece of software. Does anyone have any suggestions for something that might be close to what I'm after? Thanks.

Try using iWeb, if you have OS X Tiger or iLife '06, you can create web pages. Then, using .Mac, you can upload them on the web. It's pretty cool.

Shoot, .mac... i shoud check for new stuff...

Thanks for those guys. I'm looking for a program with a little more meat. Like I said, I've been using Frontpage for years, and it's easy to use, but it has a lot of control. I take care of a couple websites that are 50 to 100 page sites, so I need a professional option. How about dreamweaver or something along those lines. I've never used anything but FP. Thanks a ton for your help.

Yes you can get dreamweaver on OSX, another option may be this http://www.stone.com/Create/Create.html, I can't comment on how it compares with DW or FP though.

There is a web authoring board on these forums, you might get better luck in there, I'm sure there will be lots of people who can give you their opinion, maybe a mod can move the thread for you save you cross posting.

My vote is for Dreamweaver. iWeb has been suggested, but it's not a real Web authoring package with the power you are used to. Dreamweaver, in my opinion, is better than FrontPage, and always has been, on both the Mac and PC. I've been using Dreamweaver since '97 or '98 (has it been that long?), and I've always loved it.

If you haven't got tons of money, may I whole heartedly recommend Rapid Weaver. The results are professional, it is easy to use and even as someone who knows how to chuck out XHTML, PHP etc. I have chosen to use it myself.

It produces clean XHTML 1.0 valid code, and makes everything so easy. I really recommend you try out the demo from:

I have been working on rejuventating my sites using it:

All of this was done with no XHTML code at all, just point and click! It's a fantastic programme and everything that iWeb really wants to be but really cannot live up to in its 1.0 incarnation.
