Such a shock. Two days after his brilliant new album came out (seriously, if you like complex music, give it a listen).

I don't know about anyone else here, but I'm as broken up about this as a member of my own family dying. Bowie was a huge influence in my life in so many ways, and his music a constant since I first heard it oh so long ago. Sadly I never got a chance to meet the man, but I saw him in concert many times, loved him and loved his music. RIP to a brilliant artist who never sat still.

As someone who grew up listening to music in the 70s and 80s, Bowie was an almost constant for me too Chas. Never saw him live but was in awe of his music and constant changes of direction. He never stood still and though some of his later stuff was more challenging it was still the work of a truly unique individual.

RIP Davy Jones.

ETA - I have seen him give a live performance at the Freddie Mercury Tribute in Wembley Stadium back in 1992. A concert for another unique rock icon.

Devastating news. Final re-invention - immortality.
