help! adware, malware...

What is the best to rid my mac of adware and malware????? HELP

Hello and welcome to the forum! There have been numerous threads/posts on this topic, so a little searching may have helped; also, there is a sub-forum called 'Security Awareness' - take a look and read some pertinent threads.

But, for starters take a look at the quoted list below - these steps should rid your computer of adware/ransomware; also obtain Malwarebytes for Mac and run the scan; add the Safari extensions suggested; finally, visit the website listed to learn MUCH more about 'malware' - good luck. Dave

Ransomware Removal

- Force quit Safari.
- Turn off your Wi-Fi or disconnect the ethernet cable.
- Reopen Safari and close the offending tab(s).
- Clear ‘History & Data’ in the Safari menu.
- Reconnect to internet, i.e. Wi-Fi or ethernet cable.
- Add ‘extensions’: AdBlock & Ghostery.
- Use Malwarebytes Anti-Malware for Mac.
- Visit http://www.adwaremedic.com/index.php.

@cj4him Are you experiencing problems that suggest you already have malware/adware?

And don't download anything from Softonic or CNET, do not use Avast! antivirus. They all include nasty little add-ons free of charge.
