I'm going to do just that I guess. I'll stick with my wired trackball. Maybe I'll try the trackpad?

LOL, now those reviews are what I call "Love or Hate". My past experiences with any of Apple's rodents have not been good. I can't imagine paying $79.00 for it or even $25.00. The Magic Trackpad is even more overpriced at $129.00!

At $129.00? Go to Wal-Mart and buy a mouse for $19.95 wireless or $12.95 wired. ;)

The only bluetooth device on my iMac is the mouse. I wouldn't think its defective because for some reason it works flawlessly with my other computers. I have 3 MacBook Pros and 1 MacBook Air that I've tried it on without fail. I can't figure out if it's the computer it's connected to, or the El Crapitan loaded on this computer. The laptops are using the same version, and have done all the same updates.

In that case, you might want to try booting up the one goofy acting Mac into Safe Boot Mode and see if things improve, if you really want to use that Magic Mouse with it.

Maybe that Mac has something the others don't. IF you want to even bother spending the time on something you seemingly seldom use.

Eh... it's already made it to the back of the desk drawer. I've been fighting it for a year. Enough is enough.

OK, but I wasn't quite sure if you were the inquisitive Mac type or some kind of a masochist.

Let it sleep soundly and peacefully in the back of the drawer and maybe throw a small black cloth over it, like the ones Apple used to supply, but for some other reason I think…. maybe to clean something…???

Ok... well I went and experimented with a trackpad this week. A Logitech T651 track pad to be precise. I'm having the exact same problems with the trackpad as the mouse! Could it be my onboard bluetooth is too old, and needs to be brought up to 4.0? Maybe with some type of USB dongle? As I say in my second post in this thread, when I cleaned the optical sensor under the bottom plate of the mouse everything was OK. Apart from this glitch my magic mouse has performed well and I much, much prefer it to the trackpad. I'm now using Apple rechargeable batteries and these hold up well and recharge fast.
