powerbook won't open files on dvd burnt on xp pc..?

Recently I created a DVD on my XP laptop using Roxio drag to disc. The files are all avi and considerably large. However, when I attempt to play any of the files on my powerbook, although the disc mounts okay, none of the files will open in the appropritate program. In fact, I believe they're not recognized at all since the file sizes are recorded as smaller than usual when I examine the dvd info in OS 10.
Would anyone know the reason behind this problem. The disc works well in other pcs. I have not tried other mac machines.

have you tried opening them with the program VLC?
