how many memory banks does the new macbook pro have?

wouldn't it be better to get the 2x512 and not a 1 gig stick ?

Re mem. banks

I think it has 2 (i'll double check the specs tomm if no one else posts)
but if it does, just get the 1 gig stick and throw another 1 in when u need it.

Hmm i heard somewhere that they can support up to 4 gigs? Did i hear wrong? But thats correct on the 2 memory banks.

2x512Mb accesses the RAM in dual channel mode which is faster than 1x1Gb.

I'd get a 1GB stick as the first slot isn't easily accessible (AFAIK) and you might be stuck with 512 MB in one slot should you decide to upgrade later.
