MySQL and OX Yosemite?

Is MySQL on OS X Yosemite? I am trying to run Mamp Pro in order to start developing websites. Every time I try to start this remote server tool I get the following error. When I went into the system preferences I saw nothing having to do with MySQL.
Error The MySQL configuration file my.cnf couldn't be written.

I am happy to announce that the Mamp Pro is now finding the mysql after I did an uninstall and new install.:)

FYI - MySQL is not packaged with OS X (although the other parts of MAMP -- PHP and Apache -- are).
