I cracked open my B+W 350 G3 today and saw it's processor was interchangeable, and I was wondering if it was possible to remove the existing processor and put in a faster (or slower) processor? It seems much cheaper that getting a daughterboard!

Thanks alot

The G3 BWs take a ZIF processor card. You can buy them at the following websites among others:

www.fastmac.com
www.4daystar.com
www.sonnettech.com
www.macsales.com
www.powerlogix.com

If you want to read reviews of them check out the database at www.xlr8yourmac.com

Thanks guys, that was really helpful! I was thinking more along the lines of taking an original processor from a G3 or G4 machine and putting it in the ZIF slot in my B+W G3 machine. Is this possible? I know the purchased 3rd party upgrades have installer CD's, but isn't the hardware similar enough?

Thanks for your input :)
