spinning disc of death

I have been using a Mac mini for 2 years and recently started getting the dreaded spinning disc of death whenever I browse the Yahoo newsfeed on the home page. Same thing happens with my Mac laptop. Only happens with Yahoo. Any thoughts?

First thought: how old are the Macs? What OS does each have? You must give more information if you want good answers that will actually help you.

Running OS X 10.9.5. Have 4GB 1600 DDR3 RAM and a 2.5GHz core i5 processor. System is about 2 years old. Plenty of space left on the HD. It is a 500GB drive, spins at5400RPM.

Change your home page. Yahoo does not fill me with joy for one!

How often do you restart/reboot this computer?

Use it because of my email. Too much trouble to switch to Gmail.

Most of the time I just leave it running but recently it has been turned on/off and rebooted.

Try a different browser to access that page and see if it makes a difference. I've noticed a few sites recently that work better with one browser than another. Might not be the issue but it is worth a try.

It could be related to your connection speed. "Only happens with Yahoo! doesn't tell us much. We don't know if you frequent other sites with similar streaming action.
