80gig mac book pro

hi I just got one of these and it says 80 gigs, i have barely added anything and i only have 50 of free space... how many gigs is going for the operating system? does ilife take up 20 gigs?

OS X plus all of the accessories will add up to about 15-16 GB I reformatted my MBP on monday night.

i got by for years with a 40gb hd on my windows machine, never getting close to full. now after having my imac for a week i've filled up over 20gb. good thing i have a 250gb hd.

I have 400 left on my 1500gb set up.. life on the mac (or as an editor) chews through space.

Well, after all said and done, from my original 160 GB hard drive, I'm taking up... let's see... 160-50=90 gigs.

Wow, i'm taking up 90 gigs?! I gotta clean some crap out...

But anyway, no OS X should not take up 30 Gigs. OS X, on a standard installation, takes up about 15 gigs. Although, there's a lot of packaged stuff I don't use (e.g. Office Test Drive, I have the full version of Office), and I was able to cut my installation down to ten gigs.
