Uh Oh.

I just went to open some documents on my macbook pro,
originally saved on Word 2008 and I get this message:

"Word cannot open the document: user does not have access privileges"

the only thing I've done recently is download and start to use the new Word 2015. The one they were on was Word 2008. I put Word 2008 back up but the message stayed. I MUST get into these documents right away.

Please help if you can.

and, sorry if this is in the wrong forum.

thank you.

It was the wrong forum. Post moved here to the correct forum.

How did you originally save the documents using Word 2008? If the documents were saved normally (not protected) then they should open with Office 2016. I have Word documents going as far back as old Windows versions that I can still open with Office 2011.
