Hey Everyone,

I own a check cashing business and recently got a letter from the government. They are now requiring me to keep a record of every check I cash in a digital format. At the end of the period I need to be able to print the results out and also filter any person who has cashed checks over certain dollar amounts. I was wondering what program you recommend I use? I need to be able to initially enter a name, address, phone number and social security number for each person. After that, I would just need to find the name of the person when they come in and add their check amount into the program.

I was thinking a database might be what I am looking for. I have File Maker pro installed, but I was thinking that there might be other software out there that can make this process as easy as possible.

I currently own a 12in iBook with 768 ram, but am thinking about purchasing a new MacBookPro or Powerbook. Would 1gb ram be enough?

Thanks!
Michael

FileMaker would probably be a great program for this. You'll need to spend a bit of money on a FileMaker programmer to set it up to do exactly what you want and make it easy for you to use.
