user account name on top menu--missing!

heeeelp!

all of a sudden, my name disappeared from the top of my screen, causing me to not be able to switch back and forth with users without logging out. the enable fast user button has already been checked...and i reinstalled 10.4.5 update. any other ideas? thanks!!

repair permissions?
Mac HD -> applications -> utilities -> disk utility -> click the hard drive -> repair permissions

ok i fixed it. made myself an administrator? it worked! thanks again!
