iMovie HD avi importing, it takes ages to put a 200mb movie into iMovie HD clips section

I assume that there is some conversion going on and it depends on how fast your system is. The speed of your system will dictate how long it will take.

so if i am encoding another video with ffmpegx will it use alot of cpu so it will slow down importingrman said:

starting in iMovie HD importing, exporting and just about everything got slower. Long import times are normal on a G4 system (or if you are doing any other graphics or processor intensive tasks at the same time).
