Hello!

First time posting here (and using a Mac) and I am looking for a solution to an issue preventing the windows section of this computer from being accessed. I have never used Mac before and when someone asked for my help with their computer issue, I said yes, not knowing I would be using the Mac side of the computer instead of the windows section.
I have searched around (and found) that many people have had the issue I am encountering: The windows partition of the computer could no longer be accessed when the Mac section was updated to Yosemite. The issue for me is that it appears that they have tried fixing the issue before asking me so the the output from the console (terminal?) appears different than those who have similar issues. Any help with this issue is greatly appreciated and I am sorry if I posed this in the wrong format/section.

I can provide any information needed that I did not provide below
This is a Macbook Pro (Late 2008)

This is the cmd's response to me entering

It appears the Windows boot sector was either moved or overwritten. The user should have cloned his Windows partition prior to updating to Yosemite. Usually, the update does not disturb the Windows boot sector but on occasion it happens. It's probably best now to boot back to Yosemite, run the Boot Camp Assistant app and remove the Boot Camp partition, then re-create it and install Windows again. Take note that this action will destroy all the Windows data and information. However, if he can't access that partition there's no way to save the data first. Also you might advise the user that it may be better to run Windows using virtual software rather than dual boot using Boot Camp. If he's a gamer and needs the graphics acceleration then it may be better to go back to using Boot Camp.

Thank you for the reply!
I feel as if I have failed to specify exactly what the problem. Other people who had similar issues could recover their data. It seems the MBR (Master boot record?) was corrupted on update, but the partitions them self are still intact. The windows partition is still visible (and selectable) on startup but appears to have been renamed to something along the lines of disk0s4 (I do not know exactly, I cannot access the laptop at this moment).
This is the thread I was looking at https://discussions.apple.com/thread/6645856?start=15&tstart=0

The user does not use this computer for gaming and is only looking to get the data off of it.
Once again thank you for the reply and I apologize for not clarifying exactly what the issue was originally.
