I got a usb extension cable off of ebay and wondering if it is real. Seller said it was pulled from a keyboard box and is genuine. I did a quick search, and read that the cables should have something written on it. Is that true? This cable just has a usb logo on the ends with no other writing or apple logo. The cable itself seems to have some good quality to it, including a "v" on the inside to keep the cable locked in place. My problem is that its hard to get out and I plan on plugging in/out often.

If I can post links, here it is http://www.ebay.com/itm/Original-Genuine-Apple-USB-Keyboard-Mouse-Extension-Cable-/171402139055?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item27e85d15af

I have no idea what all your great concen is all about but I've been using a non-Apple USB extension cable that I keep plugged into the back of my iMac for easy access, and it cost a whole $3.50cdn at our local Dollar Den.

Oh yes, mine is black ends with shielded cable if that makes any difference. ;)

My concern is that I paid for an apple product and I want to know if I got it not. Im new to apple/mac and want to make sure that if I am having problems its truly apple-related and not because im using a counterfeit item. I am also having some trouble unplugging it (too tight). Is this how all apple products are?

When you purchase an item like that off eBay you're at the mercy of the seller. If you want a genuine Apple cable, then buy it direct from Apple or at an authorized Apple reseller. Sometimes by saving a few bucks on eBay you wind up paying more in the long run.
