Mail does not capitalize first letter

Mail does not capitalize the first letter of a sentence after a period. (.)

Yes, I know I use the Shift key. But, Mail in iOS on iPhone and iPad does capitalize the first letter. I Wish Apple would make this addition / change in the next version of a Mail.

Gheese, even my favourite old Eudora had various spelling options builtin, and it could even be enhanced with a reasonably priced commercial third party Spell/grammar-check addition.

PS: I have my doubts if the capitalization solution would still work with a recent OS X version.
