I have a Mac Pro (late 2013) and an Apple Thunderbolt 27-inch monitor, running 10.10.4, and as far as I can tell, the firmware is all up to date. Starting a few months ago my monitor will suddenly go black for a fraction of a second at random moments. It happens several times per hour, typically. Suggestions? Thanks.

Have you tried a new cable from the Mac Pro to the Thunderbolt monitor? Also, is your Thunderbolt monitor still under warranty or extended Apple care?

The Apple monitor's Thunderbolt cable is built in; i.e., there's no way to swap a cable.

Is the connection good with the computer? It's very possible that the issue here is simply a loose cable.

Indeed, switching the cabe to one of the other Thunderbolt ports fixed the problem! I haven't convinced myself yet if one of the ports is bad or if the connection was just flaky, but the intermittent screen blanking is gone. THANK YOU.
