Safari is updated as part of the OS so whatever version you have installed is the most recent version you can get (assuming you're up to date).

Alas having such an old version of Safari is one problem of using an older, unsupported operating system.

In fact Harry, it may well be the principal disadvantage of an older OS, depending on what other applications you might need to use. So Kathy, what I have done is switch to Firefox. Yes, I still have Snow Leopard (10.6.8) on my ancient Mac Mini. Firefox does ok, and somewhat better with NoScript installed, but that does take some getting used to.
