What is the most recent and best OS upgrade available for my Mac Book?
It's a white 13", MacBook 4,1.
Intel Core 2 Duo, 2.4 GHz, 4GB memory. Currently running on 10.6.8.
Is it OK to upgrade to Yosemite?

2017 15" MBP, 16gig ram, 1TB SSD, OS 10.15
OS 10.7.5 is the newest Mac OS a MacBook 4,1 can run.

And suggest you stay where you are. Lion was not as solid as Snow Leopard imho. The real answer to your question is to start saving for a later model. Your MB was released way back in February 2008.

I agree with Harry. And besides, if you update to Lion you will be unable to run any program that is PPC only.
