Hello, is it possible to send Video/Audio from my HDTV to my iMac ?
I'd like a device with Full HD support at 5,8 GHz.

Thanks.

We're going to need to know a bit more information. Can you tell us which iMac you are using (include OS version) and exactly which TV you are using? The ports on most TVs are going to be designed to bring sound into the TV so if it can be done its probably going to be a work around.

Hello and thank you.
I have 2011 iMac (Yosemite 10.10.4) and 2 TVs which is possible to send from :
LG around 2006 model and Samsung around 2008 model (HD both).
I found a Belkin screencast product but I'm not sure if this will work.
All manufacturers which I speak with, they told me it's not possible because iMac has not HDMI port and even converters doesn't work.

Do you know the model numbers of the TVs so I can check what types of connections are available on them?

Are you trying to bring sound from the Mac to the TV or from the TV to the Mac?

Samsung is SyncMaster 932 MW. For LG I can see that it says SIMPLINK,
2 x HDMI Digital, 1080p Input. All what I'm trying is from TV to iMac, I don't mind for the reverse.

I checked the Samsung manual and it doesn't support plugging a computer in through the HDMI port. It doesn't matter whether the Mac has HDMI or not. None of the ports on the Samsung send audio from the TV to the computer.

Without knowing the specific LG model I can't check for sure but to do what you want you need to check the manual and see if any of the ports have Audio Output (audio out).

Normally people are trying to do the opposite and send sound from the computer to the tv.

If your TV has regular stereo audio connections to send audio to a stereo receiver you may be able to connect that to a video capture device and then into the computer. You might not be able to hear the sound though until the recording is over.

My TV in the room (Samsung) is smaller than iMac's screen that's why I want to send from TV to iMac and not the opposite :)
My LG has digital Audio Output, is that good ?

Thanks for clearing that up. It helps me understand what you are trying to do.

The Audio Out on the LG is going to bring Audio from the TV and could bring it to the Mac. Unfortunately that doesn't bring video to the Mac. Let's go at this from a different perspective. I had an idea but need a bit more information:

1. What is being used to provide the TV signal coming into the set? Cable box, Satellite, etc.
2. Approximately where are you located? That might affect the options that are available.

I am a subscriber in one HD channel (from this channel I be able to watch all the others) and I have a satellite dish which it connects to my decoder (I think it's called set-top box also). I am in Greece.
* Now I can watch this channel via TV Tuner but with a lot of pixels in image.

@Sly and G_Pap

I certainly don't want to add confusion to the situation, but on my LG TV (2013), there is a video out port from which there is a connection to my video recorder. Is this a possible solution assuming that the OP's earlier LG model has the same?

I don't think so. I had a look at what appears to be the correct manual but it doesn't appear to have that option.

@G_Pap There were at one time a series of TV tuner options for Macs but I haven't looked at those in a while. Can you either tell us the make/model of the decoder box or post a picture/list of the connections on the box. If I can find the right capture device we may be able to pass the signal from the set top box through a capture device to the Mac.

Thank you IWT.

Here is an image from a decoder like mine.

It's the model Nova HD 831.

* I cannot find any TV Tuner to play encrypted channels.
