Hi all,

I am in need of help and would like your help.

My friend has a mac (only 1 network port - currently used to connect to modem) that is connected to broadband (adsl) on a 1-port modem.

I have a powerbook that would like to connect to my friend's mac above so that I can have internet connection via is machine.

How do I go about it?

Please advice.

Thank you,
Gremlin.

Ohoh, I know!

There are features built-in to system preferences that let you share your connection wirelessly, through the ethernet port or via a firewire cable.

Depending on what the first machine has, pick one of these methods and you should be on your way:

Go to system preferences->sharing. There select 'internet sharing' and choose ethernet as the connection you want to share and check the firewire or airport box below as the connection you'll be sharing it through.

Make sure internet sharing is enabled in the 'services' tab.

Hi Aptmunich,

Thank you for your help.
I've tried that, but it seems like my friend's mac machine does not have firewire or airport internet sharing.
:(

so sad...

Hmm is this the very first generation iMac?

Perhaps consider getting a cheap router then?
