Converting micro to nano sim

Hey guys. I have a UK iPhone 5. I am in Italy and a friend has leant me an Italian Sim. It is a Micro sim but the chip is slightly taller than my nano sim chip. What will happen if I cut the card to size and then also shave a bit off the top & bottom of the chip to make it fit?
Please see attached image.

What's going to happen when you give back this borrowed sim to your friend and it will no longer fit into their device?

Its an old one. They dont need it anymore.

What will happen? Probably damage the Sim so that it doesn't work. You can shave the card around the Sim but not the Sim itself.

Ok thanks. I was just wondering as I have seem images of modified sims online where the actual chip has been cut down as well
